Because of how The Division handles talents and skills, there are certain "builds" that are efficient as a general rule of thumb, with even more complex builds useful for specific purposes.

General Purpose[]

This build is meant to be a "general purpose" build that can be used with most playstyles, weapons, and situations.

  • Combat Medic - this talent heals your allies with 40% increased solo healing. Even if you have no intents on forming a team of known allies, random teams greatly benefit from this talent. For solo players, this makes a great "filler" talent.
  • One is None - One is None is a unique talent in that it indirectly boosts your damage per second. The talent essentially gives you a chance to fire a shot without using a bullet, at max 50%. This means that, at best, you can double your mag size, dramatically increasing your DPS over time.
  • Strike Back - Strike Back reduces your cooldowns by 20% whenever you go to low HP. While this is a risky skill in that it subconsciously rewards risky situations and health statuses, it's a godsend for combat-heavy players.
  • Battle Buddy - Reduces damage by 50% for both a revived partner and the partner who is reviving, and has no cool down, allowing for easy retreat and even effective advancement.
  • Tactical Advance or Evasive Action - both of these talents reward specific movements, with Tactical Advance increasing weapon damage by 2% per meter covered by cover to cover movement for 10s and Evasive Action reducing damage during cover to cover by 30%.

Medical[]

This build is meant for healer/medical purposes, and utilizes talents to that end.

  • Combat Medic - this talent heals your allies with 40% increased solo healing.
  • Battle Buddy - 50% reduced incoming damage for both the reviver and the person they revive.
  • Strike Back (20% cooldown reduction during low HP), Critical Save (40% reduced incoming damage during low HP medkit use), or Evasive Action (30% reduced incoming damage when moving from cover to cover.

Assault[]

This build is designed to allow for flanking and rushing, pushing into enemy lines.

  • Tactical Advance - increases weapon damage by 2% per meter covered by cover to cover movement for 10s.
  • On The Move - +30% damage reduction after killing a target while moving.

Ability[]
